Thanks to our Jaime Lannister(Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), we know that filming on the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones begins in October, which is right around the corner. It looks like shooting may start up sooner in the month rather than later, as Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) has been stopped in Belfast, Northern Ireland the production center for the show.

Williams is the first of the Game of Thrones cast members to be seen arriving in the city, but if history is any guide, we can expect to see a lot more of them make their way there soon. It’s kind of wistful: this is the last time we’ll get to do this particular song and dance. I’m sure the actors are feeling it, too.
The production has been at work ahead of them. In particular, they’ve been hard at work on the exterior Winterfell set at Moneyglass, Northern Ireland, doing fairly extensive renovations for this final round of filming:

We’ll keep a look out for who arrives in the coming days and weeks. Then the long filming begins. There’s no official word on how long it’ll last, but The Hollywood Reporter, speaking to HBO programming president Casey Bloys, said it go as late as August of 2018, which would make it the longest Game of Thrones production cycle yet. Pair that with the huge budget for the season, and these final six episodes stand a chance of being something very special.
Newly Engaged Kit Harington And Rose Leslie Are Distant Relatives
The newly-engaged Game of Thrones lovebirds Kit Harington and Rose Leslie are in fact ‘related’ according to one fan’s bit of research.
In possibly the most British way ever, the couple announced their engagement with a notice in the Times newspaper.
Mr K.C. Harington and Miss R.E. Leslie: The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire.
Upon learning this news, one Twitter-user did a bit of digging – and I use this term loosely – she went on Wikipedia and found a little something.
It looks like detective Sophie has discovered Kit and Rose actually share a royal relative, Charles II of England. How very Westerosi of them.
Kit’s Wikipedia page states:
Through his paternal grandmother, Lavender Cecilia Denny, Harington’s eighth-great-grandfather was Charles II of England.
Her mother is Candida Mary Sibyl ‘Candy’ Leslie (née Weld) of Clan Fraser, maternal great-granddaughter of Simon Fraser, 13th Lord Lovat, and descendant of Charles II of England.
So, yeah, it looks like the engaged pair are distantly related.
Cool that Kit Harington and Rose Leslie are engaged but also they are related??? pic.twitter.com/ds4B8OAfrB

Charles II of England lived way back in the 16th century – from 1630–1685 – to be precise and that’s almost 400 years ago.
And talking of relations, in 1677, Charles married his niece and had a ‘number of illegitimate children with various mistresses’, according to the BBC.
One person said what everybody else was thinking and was quick to point out the couple weren’t related ‘by Game of Thrones standards’. That’s a point right there.
Kit met Rose on the set of the HBO fantasy hit Game of Thrones, where she played Ygritte a wildling woman who Kit’s Jon Snow fell in love with, and the pair has been dating on and off since 2012.

Harington told Vogue Italia that the pair fell in love while filming and he recalled his time filming season two in Iceland as his favourite memory of the show.
Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love. If you’re already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it’s becomes very easy to fall in love.
The couple live together in a mansion in East Anglia worth £1.75 million.
Kit told James Corden back in June:
I’ve moved in with my other best friend Rose, so I’m very happy.
It’s going well, so she’s got all sorts of ideas for the house.
I said to her, cause she’s moved into my house, ‘Look darling, it’s important that this is our space. That it feels like our space. That you haven’t just moved into mine. Move anything you want around, change anything, chuck anything out’.
Well, at least Rose hasn’t turned out to be his aunty…
